Teeth problems are increasing by the day. Even a long overlook or a procrastinated dental problem can lead to dental surgeries and implantation (like root canaling). It is here the role of an Implantologist makes appearance. When a tooth is damaged or destroyed, it has to be restored. For restoring the missing structure we need the assistance of an implantologist. Implantologist is a dentist, but a dentist need not have to be an implantologist. The function of an implantologist is to place dental implants. They are trained in dental implant surgery (replacement of tooth or traditional bridge work) as well as restoration of the dental prosthesis. For this reason implantologist, like periodontist or an oral surgeon holds an exclusive niche in dentistry. Therefore it is a specialization under dentistry. Implantology is a branch which deals with the study and practice of inserting implants into the body. Therefore an implantologist does the surgery and the mechanism of restoration of the dental prosthesis. Nowadays many dental clinics reserve a separate post for Implantologist. They either work in different places according to demands or as in good clinics are given a permanent post. The growing requirement of implant surgery has led in further defining their part. A combination of expertise in implanting and dental back up definitely make them a requisite.
