Next month my 4 year old son with be having three pulpotomies, two strip resin pre-fab crowns and one stainless steel crown placed on those teeth. He will also receive two amalgams fillings. The dentist also wants to seal three teeth. My son will be receiving IV sedation. First, I question the amount of work that the dentist will be doing. I have asked several questions regarding the procedures, but he never answers me in terms that I can understand. He uses the letters to describe the teeth and when I ask which teeth he just points. When I asked what my son’s front tooth would look like (this tooth needs one of the pulpotomy and caps), the dentist replied “like a tooth.” I have tried to educate myself on what will be done and what to expect, but I am a computer person, not a dentist. What I really need to know is what to expect. Also, I need to know that to expect from my son after the surgery. Will he be able to talk, walk…should I purchase anything special to eat? Will he be able to eat? I have asked the dentist these questions and he blurted “relax bonnie” and walked away. I will not be returning to this dr. after all is done. Can someone please tell me about their experience?

My son also is in need of some serious procedures, and I think I am as lost as you. If you cannot talk to this dentist or if you have tried and he just blows you off, by all means get a second opinion! This is your child and he is depending on you to do what is right and best for HIM. keep in mind that doing what is best for him may not always include doing what the dentist considers to be the 'best' treatment. When you get the second opinion, DO NOT tell that dentist of your visit with the first dentist. We had one experience with a second opinion where the second dentist agreed with the first dentist before even examining our child's mouth. GOOD LUCK!

It is awfull what you are talking about! Especially if you mean children! I have never had any problem with dantist. I'm living in Latvia and proud of the service I get. Even people from other European countries come to Latvia to treat their teeth, becouse ofqualified service and reasonable prices. You are not the first persons who tell to people about harmfull contact with dantists in their countries. They must be punished!!!!
