My Dentist refused to do white porcelian crowns on my daughter saying that they never use porceleian on children because they break too easily, so they did silver crowns with white resin, which looks awful. I hear of lots of children with porcelian crowns for their front teeth....is it true that they are not as good for children? Can I reverse the silver crowns and get porcelian done?

Dear Jessica,
I do not know any dentist who places real porcelain crowns on children's teeth - they cost about $1,000 each.
What you have probably seen are pedoform crowns, which are actually made of a white composite material, and are not very durable.

Would it be possible to re-do her crowns or facing with this product: www.nusmilecrowns.comI know that dr said he could try filing the resin facing down and putting a whiter facing on top, but I feel the result will look the same.

Hi Jessica, I just had my 5 year old daughters tooth silver capped as well. She loves it - thinking it looks "shiny". However, people are starting to notice and keep asking me about them. To be honest - I think it is bothering me more than her. However, my point is if we are in a day and age where new technology can make our kids' teeth more visually pleasing, then why not? Please let me know know what you did with your child. I have been searching long and hard regardign this topic and finally found your post. Is it possible to replace the silver cap with this nusmile stuff? Pls pls let me know. Thx
